Guinea has reported its first case of mpox, prompting an emergency response from health authorities. The new clade 1b strain, originating in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is rapidly spreading across Africa, Asia, and Europe, leading the WHO to declare it a global health emergency. Thailand's first confirmed case of clade 1b has recovered, while Pakistan's Peshawar is emerging as an epicenter with five cases so far. The WHO has reported over 100,000 global cases and around 225 deaths since January 2022.
