Reds Blank Marlins 6-0, Snap Streak and Split
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Miami Marlins 6-0 on Thursday, splitting their four-game series and ending Miami's 11-game road winning streak. Reds starter Nick Lodolo pitched six scoreless innings, allowing three hits, no walks, and recording four strikeouts, with four relievers finishing a combined four-hit shutout. Spencer Steer hit his 11th home run, and Austin Hays drove in three runs with two singles. Elly De La Cruz singled for his 100th hit of the season, stole a base, and scored the opening run. The Reds have now avoided being swept in 30 consecutive series, their longest such streak since 1989. The Marlins, who won the first two games, were shut out for the first time since June 21.
