Joseph Suaalii Out, Eyes Lions Test Return
Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, Wallabies and NSW Waratahs back, has been ruled out for at least four weeks after fracturing his jaw in a Super Rugby match, with surgery scheduled for the injury. The Waratahs' low position on the table makes his return for the remainder of the Super Rugby season unlikely. Despite the setback, Suaalii is maintaining his fitness and will have his recovery reviewed in a month. Waratahs coach Dan McKellar and Rugby Australia are closely managing his rehabilitation. If recovery proceeds as planned, Suaalii is expected to be fit for the Wallabies' first Test against the British & Irish Lions in July. Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt remains hopeful that Suaalii will be available for key international fixtures.
