Sexyy Red Sued for Allegedly Inciting Violence Against Child’s Grandmother

Rapper Sexyy Red, whose real name is Janae Wherry, is facing a $5 million lawsuit filed by Nicole Barnes, the grandmother of one of her children. The lawsuit alleges that the rapper posted Barnes' home address on social media, urging her followers to attack and conduct acts of violence against her. According to Barnes' attorney, Steven Weaver, the dispute stems from ongoing issues between Sexyy Red and the child's father, which do not involve Barnes. The legal action includes claims of assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress, with Barnes reporting severe emotional trauma and having to relocate due to safety concerns. Weaver noted that previous attempts to resolve the situation informally were dismissed as trivial by Sexyy Red's legal team. Barnes is currently undergoing therapy due to the distress caused by the alleged threats and is struggling to find affordable housing after vacating her home in Hazelwood, Missouri.
