BRS Recalls 1.8M Eye Drops Over Sterility Concerns

BRS Analytical Service, LLC has voluntarily recalled five ophthalmic solutions, including artificial tears and eye drops, due to FDA findings of manufacturing deviations and sterility concerns. The products, distributed nationwide by AvKARE between May 26, 2023 and April 21, 2025, are subject to a Class II recall, meaning temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects are possible, though the risk of serious harm is considered remote. Over 75,000 cases—amounting to more than 1.8 million cartons—are involved in the recall. No adverse health incidents have been confirmed to date, but lack of sterility in eye care products can present significant risks. Consumers are advised to stop using the affected products, check lot numbers, and contact AvKARE for return and full credit instructions, including shipping reimbursement. Customers are urged to respond even if they no longer have the products.
