Florida Arrest Follows 2023 Kalamazoo Cold Case Homicide

Daniel Ray Partee, 34, was arrested in Florida on an open murder warrant related to the 2023 homicide of Kunta Tavarius Davis, 43, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Davis was fatally shot in September 2023 during a year when Kalamazoo experienced a record 22 homicides. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) established a cold case team in 2025, assigning two detectives to focus on unsolved homicides, leading to Partee’s arrest. The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office issued felony warrants for open murder and felony firearm charges against Partee in August 2025. Partee is currently in custody awaiting extradition to Michigan, and the investigation remains ongoing. KDPS emphasized the importance of persistence in seeking justice and encouraged the public to provide any information through various anonymous tip lines.
