National Native American Heritage Month Celebrated in Oklahoma

National Native American Heritage Month is being celebrated with various events across the U.S., highlighting Indigenous cultures. In Oklahoma, Choctaw Landing will host events on Nov. 16 and Nov. 23, including an Art Hike showcasing 40 pieces of Choctaw artwork, traditional foods, stickball games, and dance ceremonies. Cosumnes River College in California held a three-day event to honor local Native American tribal cultures, featuring guest speakers, a resource fair, and an art exhibit by Montreal Lake Cree Nation artist Jennifer King. Meanwhile, the Tribal Pride Festival in Keylong, India, on Nov. 15 will celebrate tribal heritage with cultural programs, a marathon, and health camps, while promoting development initiatives. Lastly, the CSUN Powwow in Los Angeles on Nov. 30 will gather the local American Indian community for traditional dances, crafts, and food, emphasizing the event's importance for social connection among dispersed tribes.
