NASCAR Cup, Truck Series Playoffs Open at Darlington Raceway
This weekend marks a significant NASCAR event with the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs beginning at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, starting with the Cook Out Southern 500. The winner of this race, if a playoff contender, automatically advances to the Round of 12, with four drivers set to be eliminated after the initial three-race round that includes World Wide Technology Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway. Part-time drivers Derek Kraus and Timmy Hill will compete in the Cup Series, driving the No. 44 NY Racing Team Chevrolet and the No. 66 Garage 66 Ford respectively. Concurrently, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series playoffs start at Darlington with 10 drivers competing in the Round of 10, where two will be eliminated before advancing. Rising talents like Corey Day and Mason Maggio are among the entrants in the Truck Series event, the Sober or Slammer 200. Additionally, racing action continues at Grandview Speedway with a two-day NASCAR Modifieds and Sportsman Series event leading up to the Freedom 76 Modified Championship in September.
