Bruce Springsteen Biopic Opens AFI Fest October 22
The Bruce Springsteen biopic "Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere," directed by Scott Cooper and starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen, will open the 39th AFI Fest on October 22 in Hollywood, shortly before its nationwide theatrical release on October 24. The film, adapted from Warren Zanes' 2023 biography, explores Springsteen's early 1980s period as he recorded the acoustic album "Nebraska" and worked on demos for "Born in the U.S.A.," highlighting a pivotal moment in his career. The cast includes Jeremy Strong as manager Jon Landau, along with Stephen Graham, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Marc Maron, and Gaby Hoffmann. The film will also screen at the New York Film Festival on September 28, where Springsteen himself is expected to attend. AFI Fest president Bob Gazzale praised the film for honoring the global impact of Springsteen and the artistry involved in telling his story, while Cooper expressed gratitude for AFI's tradition of meaningful storytelling and noted Los Angeles' influence on Springsteen's artistic development. AFI Fest runs from October 22 to 26 at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theatres.
