Abbott Opens New Manufacturing Facility in Kilkenny

Abbott has officially opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, Ireland, as part of a €440 million investment that will create over 800 jobs. This facility is designated as a global center of excellence for Abbott’s diabetes care business and will produce the FreeStyle Libre 3 sensors, which help millions of people monitor their glucose levels without the need for frequent finger-prick tests. The site is fully electric, utilizing sustainable energy sources and features nearly 600 solar panels. Taoiseach Simon Harris, who attended the opening, emphasized the significance of this investment for Ireland's advanced manufacturing sector. Abbott is also expanding its Donegal site, which will add another 200 jobs, and it has announced a $100,000 grant to support local STEM education.
