Martinez in Finalists for Clark County Superintendent

Pedro Martinez, the current CEO of Chicago Public Schools (CPS), is among six finalists for the superintendent role at Clark County School District in Nevada. His candidacy follows his termination by the Chicago Board of Education in December 2024, amid conflicts with Mayor Brandon Johnson. Martinez, who can remain in his CPS role until June, cites a 'Change in Board' as his reason for leaving. He has previously worked in Nevada and expressed a strong desire to return. The Clark County School District has been without a superintendent since February 2024, following the resignation of Jesus Jara. The board is scheduled to conduct interviews with candidates in late February and hopes to finalize its decision by mid-March.
