Gary Police Shoot Kill Armed 24-Year-Old During Domestic Incident
Police in Gary, Indiana, responded to a domestic battery call involving a 24-year-old man, Walter A. Wright, and a 57-year-old man at a residence on Connecticut Street. Upon arrival, Wright exited the home armed with a firearm and engaged officers, prompting them to fire their weapons and fatally wound him. Wright was transported to Methodist Hospitals Northlake, where he died from gunshot wounds. The 57-year-old man was also hospitalized due to injuries sustained from the battery incident. No officers were injured, but those involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Department. Authorities have expressed condolences and stated they will release further details after the investigation is complete.
