Georgia Congressman Introduces Censure Resolution Against Michigan Democrat Tlaib Over Antisemitic Remarks

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) has introduced a resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for her remarks at the recent People’s Conference for Palestine in Detroit, which he and other Republicans describe as antisemitic and promoting terrorism. Tlaib criticized both Democrats and Republicans for supporting Israel, asserting that grassroots movements advocating Palestinian rights are winning against the political establishment in Washington, D.C., and dismissing concerns of lawmakers about pro-Palestinian protests near their offices. Carter's resolution accuses Tlaib of conduct unbecoming a member of Congress, endangering Jewish lives, and calling for the destruction of Israel, while also condemning other speakers at the event, including Aisha Nizar of the Palestinian Youth Movement, who advocated for disrupting U.S. military supply chains. The censure effort has drawn attention from other lawmakers, such as Sen. Tom Cotton, who requested an FBI investigation into the group following Nizar's statements about interfering with the F-35 supply chain, which he views as a national security threat.
