Police reissue mugshot of convicted ISIS terrorist Farishta Jami

Farishta Jami, a 36-year-old woman from Stratford-upon-Avon, was convicted of terrorism offenses for planning to travel to Afghanistan to join the Islamic State and prepare her children to become martyrs. Following her conviction, West Midlands Police released a custody image showing her full face, which her defense argued caused her considerable distress as it did not display her wearing a niqab. In response, police issued a second image of Jami wearing a niqab, as requested by her barrister, Matthew Brook KC. The trial judge, Mrs. Justice Cheema-Grubb, acknowledged the seriousness of Jami's actions but noted the lack of evidence regarding her current mindset. Jami's sentencing has been postponed to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
