Valencia Files Lawsuit Against Netflix Over Vinícius Jr. Documentary Misinformation

The dispute centers on scenes from a 2023 match against Real Madrid, where subtitles in the documentary translated chants from the Mestalla stands as "monkey, monkey," implying widespread racist abuse, while Valencia insists the fans were actually chanting "idiot, fool," and that such subtitles create serious confusion and falsely portray all fans as racist. The club seeks financial compensation, corrections to the subtitles, removal or correction of the contentious footage, and the inclusion of any court ruling in the documentary to help restore its reputation. Although three fans were convicted and sentenced for racist abuse during the match, Valencia emphasizes these were isolated incidents and that it took swift action against those responsible. The documentary's video was reportedly edited and did not correspond to reality, and Valencia pursued legal action after Netflix and the producers refused to make corrections despite public demands.
