Texas Deputy Corporal Shot, Suspect Arrested

Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Corporal Maher Husseini was fatally shot while on his way to work after a cordial conversation with his alleged murderer, Athir Murady. The incident unfolded at a red light on Richmond Avenue and Fondren Road in Houston, where Murady followed and then shot Husseini multiple times. After the shooting, Murady led police on a 50-mile chase to Galveston, ultimately driving his car into Galveston Bay before being apprehended. Husseini, who had been with the department since 2021, was remembered by colleagues and family as ambitious and dedicated.
