Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Runs Reported in U.S., Abroad

A series of fatal auto-pedestrian incidents occurred recently across the U.S. and internationally, underscoring persistent dangers for pedestrians. In Charleston, a 19-year-old man was killed on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, with the driver facing a DUI charge. Chicago’s Near West Side saw a 69-year-old woman fatally struck by a Mazda SUV, and the driver was taken into custody. In Orland Park, Illinois, 22-year-old Issa A. Arabi died after being hit by multiple vehicles in a hit-and-run, with police still searching for suspects. A 21-year-old woman in Volusia County, Florida, was killed in a hit-and-run, with the suspect vehicle located but no arrests reported. Additional fatal hit-and-run incidents were reported in East Oakland and internationally in Chandigarh, India, with drivers fleeing both scenes.
