Las Vegas Woman's Deadly Romance Scam Uncovered

Aurora Phelps, a 43-year-old woman, has been arrested in Mexico for allegedly using online dating apps to drug and rob at least four older men in a deadly romance scam spanning from 2019 to 2022. Phelps faces 21 federal charges, including wire fraud, identity theft, and kidnapping resulting in death, with three of her victims dying and one recovering from a coma. She is accused of sedating her victims, stealing their money, cars, and identities, and attempting to access their financial accounts. Authorities believe Phelps deliberately targeted older men but also victimized younger individuals and women, using multiple aliases. Phelps was apprehended by Mexican police and is awaiting extradition to the United States. The FBI is seeking additional victims as they believe the scope of her crimes may be larger than currently known.
