Cash and Goods Seized Ahead of Jharkhand Elections

In Jharkhand, authorities have seized illegal goods, including cash and valuables worth Rs 1.25 crore, in the wake of the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for November 13 and 20. The Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Neha Arora, reported that the seizures include cash, liquor, drugs, and items intended to influence voters, with police accounting for Rs 64 lakh of the total. The state has heightened surveillance and monitoring efforts to prevent the illicit influx of cash and goods, particularly in border areas known for drug and alcohol trafficking. A total of 2.60 crore eligible voters are set to participate, with nominations for 43 constituencies opening soon, and the counting of votes planned for November 23. Officials have been instructed to monitor banking activities closely and act against suspicious transactions to ensure a fair electoral process.
