Dangote Refinery Begins Free Petrol, Diesel Delivery, Credit Facilities Nigeria-Wide

Dangote Cement Plc has offered N100 billion worth of commercial paper to investors to finance its operations, with three tenors under its N300 billion issuance program offering discount rates up to 20.77%. Separately, Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest refinery with a 650,000-barrel-per-day capacity, announced it will begin direct distribution of premium motor spirit and diesel to large users such as manufacturers, telecom firms, and the aviation sector starting August 15, 2025, eliminating middlemen and providing free logistics via a new fleet of 4,000 CNG-powered tankers. The refinery also introduced a credit facility allowing dealers who purchase at least 500,000 liters to obtain an additional 500,000 liters on credit for two weeks under bank guarantees, aiming to boost fuel supply and accessibility. This initiative, supported by investments in CNG stations and over 100 additional tankers, seeks to enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and economic development by revitalizing inactive fuel stations, stimulating SMEs, increasing government revenue, and improving fuel access nationwide. Dangote Refinery’s program reflects its commitment to making energy more affordable and accessible across Nigeria, while eliminating logistics costs and strengthening the downstream petroleum sector. These coordinated efforts by Dangote Group mark a significant step toward transforming Nigeria’s cement and fuel distribution markets.
