Jaeontae Moore, a 23-year-old man from Kalamazoo, has been indicted on federal charges for possession of a firearm by a felon after an incident during the Kalamazoo Marathon on May 5. An off-duty detective, Ondreya Anderson, witnessed Moore pulling a gun during a disturbance involving a woman in a parked car, prompting her to alert authorities. Moore fled into a crowd of runners but was later located hiding under a boat in a backyard, where officers also discovered cocaine in his jacket. U.S. Attorney Mark Totten emphasized the seriousness of the incident, highlighting the community's right to feel safe, especially during public events. If convicted, Moore faces up to 15 years in prison for the firearm charge.
