Taylor Hawkins' Son Shane Tours Chevy Metal Amid Foo Fighters Drummer Speculation

Shane Hawkins, son of the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, will tour this summer with Chevy Metal, the cover band his father founded in 2013. The 18-year-old drummer will play on a North American tour with stops including Denver, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, with tickets going on sale May 23. Despite speculation that Shane might replace recently fired Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese, Shane confirmed on Instagram that he will be touring with Chevy Metal instead. Freese, who joined the Foo Fighters in 2023, expressed surprise and disappointment at his dismissal but wished the band well. Shane has previously played with both Chevy Metal and Foo Fighters, including a notable performance at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in 2022, fueling rumors about his possible future role with the Foo Fighters. However, the band has yet to announce their next drummer ahead of their upcoming live return at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2025.
