Atlanta Couple Found Dead After Hostage Standoff

An Atlanta couple, Marvin Spencer and Henrietta Russell, were found dead in their apartment following a standoff involving Russell's son, who is now in custody. The incident began when police conducted a welfare check after Spencer's daughter was unable to reach her father or Russell. Upon arrival, officers encountered Russell's son, who barricaded himself inside the apartment and held a woman hostage at knifepoint. After hours of negotiations, he surrendered and was taken to the hospital for self-inflicted injuries. Inside the apartment, police discovered the deceased couple and the hostage, who was unrelated to the family. The suspect is expected to face charges of murder and assault once released from the hospital.
