Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has set a new record for the biggest opening weekend for a romantic comedy in the UK, grossing £11.8 million and surpassing its predecessor, The Edge of Reason. Despite not being released in US theaters, it made a strong international debut, earning $35.5 million across 71 markets, with the UK contributing $14.8 million. This fourth installment in the series, featuring Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth, and Hugh Grant, was the best opening for production company Working Title and surpassed the performance of Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World in the UK.
