Cousins Charged in Hartford Teen's Murder

Edgar Josué Chiche Martínez, an 18-year-old from Hartford, Connecticut, was found dead on Pope Park Highway, wrapped in a comforter. Police have charged Martínez's cousins, a 17-year-old male with murder and tampering with evidence, and 21-year-old Sender Soto-Veliz with hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence. The murder is believed to have occurred in the apartment they shared on Magnolia Street, a day before the body was discovered. Family members suspect the motive was financial, despite Martínez being known as a friendly and non-troublesome individual. His family, largely based in Guatemala, hopes to return his body there for burial. Soto-Veliz is set to be arraigned, and the juvenile is expected to be tried in adult court.
