WAFCON 2024 Hosts Morocco Stage Triple-Header Across Six Stadiums

The 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will be hosted by Morocco from July 5 to 26, featuring top African women's football teams competing across six stadiums in four cities including Rabat, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Berkane, and Oujda. Morocco, the tournament's runner-up in the last edition, will play all their group stage matches at the newly inaugurated Stade Olympique in Rabat, which will also host the opening match and the final. Other key venues include Stade Larbi Zaouli and Stade Père Jégo in Casablanca, Stade El Bachir in Mohammedia, and the Municipal Stadium in Berkane, all equipped with modern facilities and varying capacities to accommodate high-profile matches. Senegal, Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are among the teams aiming to advance in the competition, with Nigeria striving to reclaim their 12th continental title. The tournament highlights emerging talents and experienced players, such as Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala and Tanzania’s Salma Luvanga, who are expected to make significant impacts. This event is part of Morocco's broader football development strategy, which includes hosting the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal and investing heavily in world-class football infrastructure.
