Arctic air mass brings dangerously cold wind chills
A major blast of Arctic air is set to impact multiple regions in the Midwest and Northwestern United States, starting this weekend and continuing into the following week. In Central Illinois, temperatures will plummet from the 40s to as low as 12 degrees, with wind chills potentially reaching 25 below zero. Similarly, the Appleton and Green Bay areas are bracing for dangerously cold wind chills, with predictions of minus 29 on Tuesday morning. Sioux Falls will also experience significant temperature drops, with subzero wind chills forecasted as early as Saturday. The National Weather Service is issuing warnings for frostbite risks due to the severe wind chills expected across these regions. Recovery to milder temperatures is anticipated by midweek, providing some relief from the extreme cold.
