Nick Kyrgios Returns to Australian Open Main Draw

Nick Kyrgios is set to make his long-awaited return to Grand Slam tennis at the Australian Open in January 2025, using a protected ranking of No. 21 due to injuries that sidelined him for nearly two years. The 29-year-old, who last competed at a major in September 2022, will join a strong contingent of Australian players, including top-10 star Alex de Minaur. Kyrgios will first play at the World Tennis League exhibition in Abu Dhabi and then at the Brisbane International to prepare for the Open. Alongside him, former champions like Kei Nishikori and Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic will also return using protected rankings. The tournament is set to feature a full-strength draw with all top-50 players committed to compete, and the main-draw entry cut-off is established at world No. 98.
