Tourism Growth Across Indian States

Assam's tourism sector has seen a remarkable recovery post-COVID, recording over 1 crore visitors in the 2023-24 fiscal year, driven by improved infrastructure and security. Madhya Pradesh has experienced a significant rise in women travelers, now constituting 20% of its total tourist influx, thanks to enhanced air connectivity and improved safety measures. Uttar Pradesh's tourism numbers have surged, with over 48 crore visitors currently, attributed to efforts in developing historical and religious sites and the upcoming Mahakumbh event. Prayagraj alone saw over 5 crore tourists in 2023, with increased foreign visitors due to improved infrastructure and events like Magh Mela. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand's tourism boom is putting a strain on its ecology and resources, highlighting the need for sustainable growth and better town planning.
