Doncaster Car Thief Jailed Four Years After Wrong-Way A1 Crash Injures Four
George Buck, a 34-year-old car thief from Doncaster, was sentenced to four years and four months in jail for causing a three-vehicle crash on the A1 by driving the wrong way at speeds up to 100 mph. Buck was driving a Ford Mondeo with false plates, towing a stolen van, when police spotted the vehicles turning at excessive speed and began following them. After detaching the van, Buck sped off and headed south on the northbound carriageway near Blyth, resulting in a collision with a Peugeot 208 and another van. The crash caused serious injuries to the three passengers in the Mondeo and the van's occupant, while the Peugeot driver suffered minor injuries. Nottinghamshire Police Sergeant Mark Baker condemned Buck's reckless and dangerous driving, emphasizing the severe risk posed to other road users. The road was closed overnight during investigations following the incident.
