Russian Missile Strikes Kill Families, Damage Infrastructure in Lviv Region
On the night of October 5, 2025, Russian forces launched a massive missile and drone attack on the Lviv region in western Ukraine, marking the largest assault since the war began. Among the casualties was a family of four in the village of Lapaivka, including a 15-year-old girl named Anastasia Hrytsiv, who was described by her school as a kind and radiant student, and her mother, grandmother, and another relative. The strike destroyed their home entirely, resulting in the deaths of the family members and injuries to neighbors. The attack also damaged residential buildings, hospitals, industrial sites, kindergartens, energy infrastructure, and caused fires, leaving parts of the city without electricity. Local communities mourned the victims with vigils and funerals, emphasizing the tragedy's profound impact and the ongoing threat faced by civilians. Ukrainian authorities have launched a war crimes investigation into the incident, highlighting the severity of the attack and its consequences on the civilian population.
