USDA Issues Health Alert for Ready-to-Eat Chicken, Bacon Wraps in CT, MA, NY Over Listeria Risk
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat chicken and bacon ranch wrap products produced on May 2, 2025, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Affected products include 10-oz. clamshell packages labeled as “Big Y quick easy meals CHICKEN BACON RANCH WRAP” and “MARKET 32 BY PRICE CHOPPER Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap” with lot code 25122 and sell-by dates of May 7, 2025. These products were distributed in Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut, but are no longer available for purchase, so a recall was not requested. The contamination was identified after a state public health partner notified FSIS of a positive Listeria test result from a product sample. While no illnesses have been reported, Listeria infections can pose serious health risks, especially to older adults, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals. Consumers who have purchased these items are advised not to consume them and to dispose of or return the products, and anyone concerned about illness should contact a healthcare provider.
