Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch several energy projects in India on 3 February, including the NLC Talabira Thermal Power Station, a 2,400 MW coal-based power plant in Odisha. The project is estimated to cost INR272.12bn ($3.47bn), and is being developed by NLC India. On completion in 2029, it will be the largest greenfield pithead thermal power station in the country, and will supply 1,787 billion units of electricity to Odisha and other states. A further 800 MW expansion is planned in the second phase of the project.
