Disney Shifts Star Wars for Ice Age 6 Release

Disney has decided to remove an untitled 'Star Wars' film from its 2026 release schedule and replace it with 'Ice Age 6', set to premiere on December 18, 2026. The canceled film was rumored to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and would feature Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey, focusing on the rebuilding of the Jedi Order after 'The Rise of Skywalker'. The delay is attributed to changes in writers and other production challenges. Despite this cancellation, 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' movie is still scheduled for release in May 2026, and another untitled 'Star Wars' film remains set for December 17, 2027. Lucasfilm continues to face pressure in planning future 'Star Wars' projects, including a new trilogy by Simon Kinberg. Meanwhile, 'Ice Age 6' will feature returning characters voiced by Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, and others.
