Marina Tabassum Selected for 2025 Serpentine Pavilion

Marina Tabassum has been selected to design the 2025 Serpentine Pavilion in London, marking the event's 25th anniversary. Her pavilion, titled 'A Capsule in Time,' will consist of four wooden structures with translucent façades, inspired by the ephemeral architecture of the Bengal Delta, reflecting themes of temporality and legacy. Scheduled to open on June 6, 2025, the design features a central movable element that promotes community interaction and is influenced by traditional South Asian Shamiyana tents. Tabassum's work emphasizes sustainability and is rooted in local culture and climate, exemplified by her previous project, the Khudi Bari, designed for flood-prone areas in Bangladesh. The pavilion aims to create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, inviting visitors for various public gatherings and events. Its design is set to be documented in a catalogue published by Serpentine in June 2025, featuring conversations and essays reflecting on the project.
