Actor Haley Joel Osment Sentenced to One-Year Diversion in California Arrest Case
Haley Joel Osment was sentenced to a one-year diversion program following his arrest for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance in Mammoth Lakes, California. The program requires Osment to attend at least three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings weekly and meet with a therapist twice a week for six months. The Mono County District Attorney opposed the diversion due to Osment's prior DUI conviction and his use of racial slurs, including an antisemitic slur and calling an officer a "Nazi," during his arrest. Osment apologized for his behavior, attributing it to emotional distress after losing his home in the Eaton Fire earlier in the year but acknowledged that this was no excuse for his language. If Osment successfully completes the diversion program, his charges will be dismissed, but failure to comply will result in reinstated criminal proceedings. His compliance will be reviewed at a court date set for January 5, 2026.
