Fawzia Amin Sido Rescued from Captivity in Gaza

Fawzia Amin Sido, a Yazidi woman abducted at age 11 by ISIS, has revealed the horrific conditions she endured during a decade of captivity, including being forced to consume the flesh of Yazidi babies. Sido was one of thousands of Yazidis captured during ISIS's assault on Sinjar in 2014, and she recounted her captivity in Gaza, where she was freed in a covert operation involving Israel, the United States, and Iraq. During her captivity, she was starved and eventually forced to eat meat revealed to be from babies, causing sickness among the captives. The rescue mission successfully extracted Sido from Gaza, where she had been trafficked through various countries, and reunited her with her family in Iraq. Her account aligns with previous allegations of ISIS's brutal practices, highlighting the ongoing plight of about 2,600 missing Yazidis. Despite her release, Sido's psychological scars remain severe, underscoring the enduring trauma faced by Yazidi survivors.
