Florida State Players Finalists for Awards

Florida State redshirt seniors Ryan Fitzgerald and Alex Mastromanno have been named finalists for the Lou Groza and Ray Guy Awards, respectively, recognizing their exceptional performances as kicker and punter. Fitzgerald has achieved a perfect 12-for-12 on field goals this season, including five from 50 yards or more, and has not missed a single extra point attempt, making him the only kicker among the finalists without a miss. Mastromanno leads all punters nationally with an average of 49.1 yards per punt and has 28 punts of at least 50 yards. Florida State is the only school with finalists for both awards this season, underscoring the strength of their special teams, which rank first in ESPN's Special Teams Efficiency rankings. The winners will be announced on December 12 during ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards show. Fitzgerald's performance ties him with FSU's history of successful kickers, joining Roberto Aguayo as one of only two to start a season with 12 consecutive field goals made.
