Canucks Hire Dean, McLean, Young as Assistants

The Vancouver Canucks have named Kevin Dean, Brett McLean, and Scott Young as assistant coaches under new head coach Adam Foote, following a thorough search for experienced and communicative staff. Dean brings defensive coaching expertise from his time with the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins, and was part of the U.S. team that won gold at the recent IIHF World Championship. McLean joins after head coaching the Iowa Wild in the AHL and serving as an assistant with the Minnesota Wild, while Young moves from his role as the Canucks’ director of player personnel, boasting a 17-year NHL playing career. Departing the staff are Yogi Svejkovský, Sergei Gonchar, and Dylan Crawford. The coaching changes are part of a broader effort by GM Patrik Allvin and president Jim Rutherford to reshape the team, including plans to aggressively reimagine the forward group.
