Stokes attached a GPS tracker to Jones' car, laying in wait and shooting him 11 times while Jones was in his vehicle in Queens, New York. The conviction included second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges. Prosecutors described the murder as premeditated and calculated, reflecting Stokes' months-long grudge against Jones.
