Tampa Bay Sun FC Unveils Waterfront Stadium Plan

Tampa Bay Sun FC, after winning their inaugural USL Super League championship, has announced plans for a 15,000-seat waterfront stadium in Ybor Harbor as part of a 33-acre mixed-use development led by majority owner Darryl Shaw. The project will include a boutique hotel, residential and retail spaces, restaurants, office towers, and the new United Soccer League (USL) headquarters. The stadium would be among the first in the world built specifically for a professional women's soccer team and is intended to serve as a year-round venue for sports, concerts, and community events. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor and USL leadership have endorsed the project, emphasizing its potential to revitalize Ybor City and promote women's sports. The Sun played their championship-winning season at a local high school stadium, highlighting the need for a permanent home. The cost and construction timeline have not yet been disclosed, and the development is planned as a public-private partnership.
