Multiple Towns Conduct Hydrant Flushing Amid Water Discoloration

Multiple municipalities are conducting hydrant flushing programs to address water quality issues and routine maintenance. Auburn Fire Department has started its annual hydrant flushing, warning residents about temporary water discoloration and advising them to run water until clear. Hanover Borough is undertaking emergency hydrant flushing on August 5-6 and August 12-13 due to sediment disturbances causing discolored water; residents are advised not to use water for drinking or laundry during flushing and to run cold water until clear. Officials in Hanover also warn about potential road wetness and advise caution while driving near flushing sites. Routine system flushing is also scheduled in Hanover for late September.
