Dodgers place Michael Kopech on injured list amid postseason uncertainty
Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Michael Kopech has been placed on the injured list again due to right knee inflammation, marking his third and likely final IL stint of the season. Kopech has struggled with injuries all year, including a right shoulder impingement and a meniscus tear that required surgery, which have contributed to his severe command issues, including a career-worst walk rate. Since returning from knee surgery in September, Kopech has walked eight batters in just 2 2/3 innings over four appearances, raising concerns about his effectiveness and postseason availability. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged Kopech's physical struggles and noted that the team hopes to "reset" him so he might contribute if the Dodgers advance deep into the playoffs. To fill Kopech's roster spot, the Dodgers recalled right-hander Will Klein from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Overall, Kopech's season has been marred by injuries and inconsistent performance, complicating the Dodgers' plans as they pursue a division title and postseason success.
