Farmers from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, and Spain are protesting against EU agricultural policies. Organised by farming associations including the Irish Farmers' Association, the European Farmers Union (CEH), the European Milk Board, and the Young Farmers' Organisation, they demand an end to excessive regulation and a fair income. They also demand future prospects for young farmers and criticise the EU's common agricultural policy (CAP) for inadequately protecting farmers from cheaper imports and failing to combat climate change. They oppose a proposed free trade deal with South America, believing it would undermine their industry. France has announced a support and aid package for farmers in response.
