Netflix Debuts Spanish Thriller City of Shadows December 2025

Netflix is set to release a new Spanish crime thriller series, City of Shadows, on December 12, 2025. The six-episode series is based on Aro Sáinz de la Maza’s first novel in the Milo Malart saga and centers around a gruesome crime involving a burned body found on Barcelona's iconic La Pedrera, a Gaudí masterpiece. The story follows Inspector Milo Malart, recently reinstated after suspension for insubordination, and Deputy Inspector Rebeca Garrido as they investigate the case amidst the atmospheric backdrop of Barcelona, which is portrayed as a vital character in the series. The show stars Isak Férriz and Verónica Echegui, with Echegui's role being one of her final performances before her passing in August 2025. Directed by Jorge Torregrossa and produced by Arcadia, the series also highlights Catalonia's landmarks, enhancing the noir thriller's tension and visual appeal.
