Lake County Officers Rescue Dog from Roof in Gary

A dog was safely rescued from the roof of a three-story house in Gary, Indiana, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Lake County Sheriff's Department and the Townsend Tree Company. Officers M. Vicari and Sgt. C. Salomon were alerted to the situation by a bystander and, after the local fire department declined to assist due to safety concerns, enlisted the help of nearby tree experts who used a boom lift to reach the stranded animal. Gary Animal Control and Silver Strays have since taken custody of the dog. Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. praised the officers and community members involved for their courage and teamwork. The circumstances of how the dog ended up on the roof remain unclear, and it is not yet known if the dog has an owner.
