Valdosta Daycare Worker Arrested After Toddler Mauling

On Saturday, Oct. 4, a 2-year-old boy identified by his family as Kaimir Jones was fatally mauled by two Rottweilers after he wandered into the backyard and opened a kennel at an unlicensed home daycare in the 3800 block of Pecan Drive in Valdosta, Georgia. Authorities say caregiver 48-year-old Stacy Wheeler Cobb left the child unattended for more than two hours while she napped and believed he was asleep; Cobb typically cares for about 10 children but the victim was the only child at the home that day. Cobb was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children. Lowndes County Animal Control seized the two Rottweilers and a third dog from the residence. Police and local officials called the death a tragic, preventable act of negligence, said the investigation is ongoing, and indicated additional charges may be filed as evidence is processed. The child’s mother has posted a GoFundMe seeking help with funeral expenses.
