The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is hosting the inaugural International AI Olympiad (IAIO) from September 8-12 in Riyadh, with participation from approximately 25 countries. Organized in collaboration with UNESCO and international AI research centers, the event aims to establish a premier platform for AI competitions, nurturing talent and fostering skill development. In preparation, SDAIA conducted five weeks of virtual lectures covering a range of topics in artificial intelligence to qualify teams and expand students' knowledge. Each team, consisting of up to four students, will compete individually, with the first day focusing on scientific questions and the second on solving scientific problems using AI. This initiative is envisioned as a way to engage and motivate the next generation in AI-related activities, promoting a deeper understanding of transformative technologies. The IAIO is seen as a catalyst for future global expansions in the field of artificial intelligence.
