The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide $202.25 million in aid to Bangladesh under the 6th amendment of the Development Objective Grant Agreement (DOAG) to support good governance, social and economic opportunities, and resilience. This aid is part of a larger $954 million commitment for the period 2021-2026, of which $425 million has already been provided. The agreement was signed at the State Guest House Padma in Dhaka by representatives from the Economic Relations Division (ERD) and USAID. The aid aims to advance Bangladesh's development, empower youths, and strengthen democracy and governance. The US delegation emphasized their commitment to supporting Bangladesh's inclusive economic growth and institutional reforms, following the recent establishment of an interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. The US has been a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972, contributing over $8 billion across various sectors.
