Two Officers Injured in Fort Pierce Crash
On Saturday night, Santa Rosa police officers arrested two suspects, including a minor, following a traffic stop that resulted in minor injuries to two officers. The police discovered a loaded .45 caliber Glock 19 handgun and brass knuckles on the minor, while a stolen .22 caliber revolver was found in the vehicle, leading to the arrest of Hopland resident Thomas Shaw. In a separate incident in Fort Pierce, a St. Lucie County sheriff's deputy and a Fort Pierce police officer were seriously injured when a vehicle struck their cruiser during a felony traffic stop. The crash involved multiple law enforcement vehicles and resulted in the arrest of the driver for DUI. Both incidents highlight ongoing challenges law enforcement faces regarding public safety and officer safety during operations.
